Grip

The proper grip of a golf club is one that allows the player to gain a consistent delivery of the club to the ball with some speed. The proper position and placement of the hands on the club can help maximize the player’s clubface awareness through impact. The grip is huge and that is why it’s the first place to begin most instruction.

There are 5 key pressure points in establishing a solid grip:

  1. The bottom three fingers under the club of the lead hand is pressure #1
  2. The index finger and thumb of the lead hand is pressure point #2
  3. Wrapping the middle finger and ring finger of the trail hand on the club is #3
  4. Index finger and thumb of trail hand is #4
  5. Trail hand thumb pad wrapping over lead hand thumb is #5
