What is The Carnivore Diet?

The Carnivore Diet.. What is it?

It is 2020, and the Carnivore Diet is here to stay! Welcome to the tastiest and most effective fat burning diet in the world.  So where to begin?

It was May of 2019 when I was a guest on Mark Bell’s Podcast.  During that time, Mark asked me what it was that was holding me back? What was my downfall when it came to dieting?

It was at the moment that I came to a realization that I had an addiction to carbs!  Candy, chips, rice and potatoes and everything in-between. Mark proceeded to educate me on the Carnivore Diet and even introduced me to Dr. Shaun Baker, who mainstreamed the diet.

I spent the next 30 days doing my research, hours upon hours on Youtube and Reddit.   A diet that consists of all the eggs, bacon and Ribeye that I could eat?  Everything seemed too good to be true. Boy how wrong was I, in fact this diet would cure many of the ailments that come along with being a professional athlete. The pain and inflammation to be direct, and little did I know that it was carbs that created the inflammation in my body from all the various injuries I’ve acquired over time.

First things first, I decided to do my blood work.  Going to my local Quest Diagnostics, the process was fast and simple and I had my base numbers logged.  Soon there after, I started my carnivore adventure.

During the fist 7-10 days, there was an adjustment period.  Eating only animal products is something to get used to, thats for sure.  I started getting the meat sweats, and I even experienced the “Keto Flu,” which only lasted a day or so… My sleep started getting much better.  I was in a deep sleep much faster which required me to spend less time in bed.  The mental clarity/fog started to dissipate soon thereafter

During weeks 2 and 3 was an experience to say the least.  I spent a considerable amount in the bathroom with a rather explosive time.  For me, that was no problem, even interesting to see what starts coming out of your body.

Its week 4 and beyond where the fun begins.  The fat comes melting right off, my blood work came back and all my cholesterol numbers dropped, which was an amazing feeling. My testosterone was high, and Ive never felt better in all my life.

There are 2 very simple rules for the Carnivore Diet:

No. 1:  No Carbs!

No. 2: Eat when you are hungry and eat till you are full.

When you consume a diet that consist of only fat and protein, you stay satiated for much longer periods of time, which is why intermittent fasting comes into play, or more like inadvertent fasting. A Mark Bell coined slogan

Here is a sample of what my day looks like

Breakfast: 6 eggs, 6 pieces of bacon, and a side of cheese

Mid day snack (if hungry): Chicken breast strips seasoned with Pork Grind Crumbs.

Dinner: A large, 1 pound Ribeye!

In closing, this diet isn’t for everyone.  What I mean by that, this is the most restrictive diet known to man.  All you can eat are animal products.  No carbs, not even one.  There is no cheat meals, no cravings, and no shortcuts.  If you are like me, addicted to carbs and love meat, this diet is for you!  Please do plenty of research, and find out the amazing success stories that people have had.

As we continue on this journey, we will discover all the special recipes to make, seasonings to add, and even indulge in all the Diet Coke you want to!

Until next time, rock on Carnivores!
